iDE's work for the USAID supported Market Access and Water Technologies for Women Project (MAWTW, 2013-16) has been highlighted on USAID's Agrilinks website. Agrilinks is an online hub for food security and agriculture professionals

  • iDE’s PRISM methodology (Prosperity Realized through Irrigation and Smallholder Markets) harnesses the comparative advantages of smallholders-facilitating market access, building profitable enterprises to market agricultural inputs, and providing embedded services.
  • Changing the lives of the poor means changing the market systems around them to stimulate growth and expand their access to basic services. The M4P approach is a coherent and unified strategy for developing markets, which iDE implements through challenge funds and linkage of local businesses to larger private sector organizations.
  • iDE works closely with government in public-private partnerships, creating an enabling environment for agricultural market development by facilitating government support of agricultural extension, research, and infrastructure.
  • iDE links agricultural productivity to food security and improved nutrition by helping farm households to increase their income and make better choices. In the SIMI-OVC project, more than 14,000 families changed their health, hygiene, and feeding practices and significantly improved child nutrition as a result. Today the Agriculture and Nutrition Extension Project is building on this success to reach another 20,000 households in Nepal.
  • iDE’s successful Sanitation Marketing approach, tested and refined in Cambodia, improves water and sanitation in vulnerable communities by strengthening the capacity of small enterprises to manufacture and distribute affordable technologies and conducting social marketing campaigns to change household behavior.

iDE is implementing projects for a number of donors, including USAID, UKAID, the European Union, Grand Challenges Canada and other Donors and Foundations.
